Memorial Day 2015

December 1, 2015 was a very busy day for the Maritime Regiment as three exciting activities happened in different venues. For the first part of the celebration, cadet officers, faculty and staff attended a wreath laying in Cempark Banilad to commemorate Engr. Matias B. Aznar. A photojournalism contest was also done with cadets together with the remaining employees at Southwestern University and lastly, a painting contest with the participation of the cadets and the remaining SMFI faculty and staff was held in Aznar Coliseum.

The day commenced at the Aznar Coliseum where a singing and dancing competition of employees and the cadets was held and the main event, Mr. Maritime and the Gratitude Christmas Tree Lighting. Gratitude Christmas Tree lighting happeed within the Mr. Maritime Program which our Regiment Choral and some SMFI staff performed Christmas carols imbibing the spirit of Christmas. Dinner was served c/o SMFI.

Siglakas 2015

Siglakas, the much-awaited event for 2015 was scheduled on August 12 – 15. Excitement in the Maritime Regiment was running high as the defending champions eagerly waited to depend their title. However, this year proved to be a challenge as other Colleges within Southwestern University showed their tough and competitive spirit. Over-all, the Maritime Regiment placed 3rd (garnering 19 golds) against the College of Medical Technology 2nd and the over-all champion, the College of Arts and Sciences- Education.

National Seafarers Day 2015

Cdt. Jan Carlo Carpio won as the  Champion for an Oratorical Competition against 23 contestants from varying Maritime Schools all through-out the country. The competition was held last September 26, 2015 in Metro Manila.

The winning piece was written and coached by Mr. Anthony Jay Cavales titled, Marinong Pilipino: Isulong and Edukasyon at Pagsasanay.

Congratulations to Cdt. Carpio and Mr. Cavales! You make us all very proud!! Forward always forward!
