As the first semester of school year 2011-2012 came to a close, the Maritime Regiment lit up the night sky with its culminating bonfire.
Not only cadets, but also faculty and staff of the Regiment filled Aznar Ballpark on October 15, 2011 as it celebrated and looked back on the events which happened over the last 5 months.
The words “If we hold on together, I know our dreams will never die” echoed all throughout the area as everyone sang while lighting up their candles showcasing true camaraderie and peace within the regiment.
Parents from all over the Philippines also attended the closing bonfire giving words of guidance and wisdom and after an inspirational speech given by guest speaker Attorney Bacquiano and song numbers performed by Dr. Ibon, Mr. Jacob Calva and Attorney Selwin Prada, the cadets took out pieces of cloth where they wrote what they learned in the regiment and words of gratitude, tying it together to make the “rope of unity” in the regiment.
“I am deeply touched. We’ve never had bonfire like this,” Mrs. Gina Aznar, President of SMFI said during her closing speech.
As the bonfire started to burn out and the night came to a close, everyone came together as one; remembering the true meaning of brotherhood and value of the Regiment.
